Extra Hot Peri Peri Sauce

Peri Peri Sauce

This Extra Hot Peri Peri Sauce, just like the one you get in Nandos in the black bottle.  I hope when we relocate to Portugal I will find some original recipes from the motherland of Peri Peri.

Extra Hot Peri Peri Sauce


1 red pepper

1 onion

Zest of 1 lemon

1 garlic clove

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

Juice of 1 lemon

4-10 red chilis (choose to taste) with stalks removed

1 tsp. cayenne pepper

2 drops liquid smoke

1 large pinch of salt and pepper


  • Pre-heat grill to 100%
  • Chop the Pepper and onion into chunks and lay on a baking tray and place under the grill for 10 minutes – turn the vegetables over twice during grilling so they don’t burn
  • Remove vegetables from grill and place in a food processor or blender
  • Add all of the other ingredients in together with the charred vegetables
  • Pulse until smooth
